The government has dismissed Kulman Ghising from his position as the Executive Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA). A minister confirmed that the decision was taken during the cabinet meeting on Monday.

Earlier, the cabinet had brought four charges against Kulman Ghising and asked him to submit a clarification within three days. As per the cabinet’s decision, Kulman was asked to submit a 72-hour explanation through the Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, Suresh Acharya.

Kulman was accused of inflating the price in the power purchase agreement with India, failing to submit performance evaluation details on time, receiving zero marks in the evaluation, and falsely projecting NEA’s profits. In response, Kulman provided a seven-point clarification addressing the four charges raised by the government.

In his clarification, Kulman insisted that no action should be taken against him and claimed that the minister acted with bias in the process initiated by the Council of Ministers.
